Scope and Purpose
Tuesday, 26 November (09.00-17.00) and Wednesday, 27 November (09.00 – 12.00) This year the 2007 RHN Annual Conference represents a happy anniversary. After 15 years of successful work the network is coming home – to Düsseldorf – where, in 1992, the founding documents were signed and an ambitious effort was launched to bring European regions together. In 2007 the WHO Regions for Health Network face the challenge of a larger Europe which strives for political and economical integration and looks for new transnational solutions in health care and health system development. The 2007 Annual Conference contributes to this by providing insight into new international trends - especially in regional health economy - and leaves ample space for discussion and exchange of experience. Special focus will be on “regional health and wealth" and there will be discussions on the various aspects of health economical development. The conference will present a collection of 8 to 10 theses on the regional added value of "health and wealth" and these will be referred to in some of the speeches as central points of reference. They will be evaluated and appreciated in a final discussion round and will be presented at the RHN Ministerial Forum for adoption and signature. The conference will also present practical projects and studies concerned with regional health economy and health systems, followed by working groups on these projects. The conference contributes to the formulation of an important and promising policy impulse (health and wealth), which will be further developed within the WHO, EU, national and regional contexts and, simultaneously, offers the opportunity for in-depth discussion of various aspects of the general regional health policy. |
